My approach: Healing at Your Pace

Trauma-informed, collaborative and person-centred

I work from a trauma-informed and feminist perspective, recognising that our mental health doesn't exist separately from our relationships, experiences, bodies, families and broader social circumstances.

I draw on a range of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, tailoring therapy to your individual needs and goals.

These may include:

EMDR | Narrative Therapy | ACT | CBT | DBT-informed approaches | Somatic approaches | Psychoeducation

I don't believe there is one therapeutic approach that works for everyone. Together, we can explore what feels most helpful for you.

I work with women experiencing

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Domestic and family violence

  • PTSD and trauma-related distress

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Low self-worth and self-criticism

  • Emotional overwhelm

  • Life transitions

  • Difficulties with boundaries and self-advocacy

I also have an interest in supporting women from diverse cultural backgrounds and people who have experienced marginalisation or discrimination..

About Theresa

I'm Theresa Fischer, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and I provide trauma-informed psychological therapy for women experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties and the impacts of domestic and family violence.

I bring a calm, reflective presence to therapy and value depth, honesty, and respect. I am particularly mindful of how power, gender, and lived experience shape our healing journeys.

I have worked with women, trans community and girls specialising in gender based violence for the last 15 years. This includes, but not limited; to domestic and family violence, sexual assault, trauma, grief, loss, attachment, PTSD, C-PTSD, anxiety and depression. I am an approved therapist with The Blue Knot Foundation and Victims of Crime (NSW &QLD).

I have also worked internationally in post conflict settings in human rights advocacy, trauma recovery and gender-based violence with women, non-binary and trans folk. I bring a deep respect for cultural wisdom and lived experience to all that I do. I believe healing includes awareness of the world that shapes us—the forces of privilege, injustice, and power that touch every story. Trauma lives not only within us but also in the systems and histories we inherit. Recognizing this connection helps us move toward both personal and collective restoration.

Outside of my work, I value time in nature, connection, creativity and the quieter things in life. These values also influence the way I think about wellbeing — that healing isn't simply about reducing symptoms, but about creating a life that feels meaningful and connected.
